Hajj Mugalu Reinstated as UMSC Secretary-General

The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council -UMSC joint session has reinstated Haj Ramathan Mugalu as the substantive Secretary-General of the Muslim umbrella body.

The joint session members comprising the national executive and College Sheikhs unanimously resolved to reinstate Mugalu in their meeting chaired by the UMSC National Chairperson Haj Abdul Nadduli Friday afternoon.

The decision was communicated in a joint communique signed by Nadduli on behalf of the National Executive and HE Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda on behalf of the College of Sheikhs.

“In accordance with the UMSC Constitution article 11(e), 11(5), the Members of the Joint Session held today 8th July 2022, have heard the petition and thereafter gave Haj Mugalu a fair hearing to which he was able to explain and clear all grounds leveled against him,” reads the communication. Mugalu’s reinstatement comes two days after he was suspended by the national executive on various allegations when he appeared on July 2nd, 2022.
