Gen. Tumwine’s Requiem Mass: VIP Mourners to Attend on Invitation, Undergo Covid-19 Test

A section of Mourners who will attend the Monday Requiem mass for the Deceased Former Security Minister Gen.

Elly Tumwine will attend on the invitation. A few hours after the ICT and Guidance Minister Dr. Chris Baryomunsi released the burial program of the Deceased who breathed his last in Agha Khan hospital on Thursday, UPDF Spokesperson issued a similar statement with some adjustments.

Like Dr. Baryomunsi, Brig. Gen Felix Kulaigye the UPDF Spokesperson said in a press statement that the official burial program of the Gen whose remains were flown in yesterday will include among others; an official Vigil at his home on Sunday, 28 August 2022: 4.00 pm, National prayers, that will be held at Kololo Independence grounds 8:00 am on Monday.

Public assembles at 10:00 am Prayers begin, and thereafter, Tuesday, August 30, at 10.00 am, a funeral service will be at his home in Rwebikoma, Kazo District, and thereafter burial in the afternoon.

“There will be invitations for some categories of mourners for the requiem service at Kololo. Those to be invited will be contacted by the Directorate of Protocol and will be required to undergo COVID-19 tests at Kololo Independence Grounds on Sunday 28th August 2022,” Brig. Gen Kulaigye said in a statement.

He noted that the rest of the mourners, who are willing to join the requiem service at Kololo will be equally welcome, “and will be duly guided by Protocol on the sitting arrangement, in view of the prevailing situation of the COVID 19 pandemic,”

“Mourners at all the venues indicated above are reminded to strictly adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures for prevention of the spread of COVID-19,” the statement noted, concluding.

“May the Almighty God Rest the Soul of the Late General Elly Tumwine in Eternal,”
