A section of Boda-Boda Riders operating in the City under their umbrella body of under their umbrella of Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba (MK) Winners Boda boda Project has warned the leadership of both the Ministry of Kampala and Metropolitan areas and the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) to dare stop them from entering the City on Monday.
Those who operate in the City said that it is unfair for the Government Ministry and Agency to kick out the unregistered Boda-Boda riders in what they called a ‘fraudulent manner’
The MK project Patron in Kampala metropolitan area Faizo Juma Kiirya told the reporters on Friday at their offices that they are not against the exercise but stopping it is done in bad faith because everyday people buy boda boda so this will see many missing out to join the industry.
“We are not against the registration of Boda-Bodas but the way it was done was hypocritical because some of us went there but didn’t find the people registering there,” he said
Muhamad Mutusa riding from Crested Towers Gate four said that stopping them to not have enter town on Monday is a serious joke.
“Whether they want or not, we shall enter town on Monday because the majority of us haven’t taken our children back to schools,” he said adding,
“We won’t act on such bogus programs because they have been stealing our money for example Shs60,000 in Kamwokya now they are here with their nonsense. We have never got a clear program, this is a hoax,” he said.
This one’s statement followed an earlier statement released by Hon Minsa Kabanda the Minister for Kampala City and Metropolitan Affairs showing that only 35000 Boda-Boda riders have been Registered.
She said that the registered number will be allowed in the City.
Kirya said that many youths with MK projects boda have missed out on registration because they have just received their motorcycles and are not registered which means they are not going to work in Kampala yet the initiator of the project wants youths to get jobs in Kampala.
“I advise KCCA to dialogue with boda boda riders leadership on way forward that using force to chess them out of the industry because is not going to sit down to watch space when they are losing jobs,”
