Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala, the Minister of Works and Transport has commenced plans of constructing the St Mark Church, in Kikandwa, in remembrance of his fallen daughter and driver.
In June last year, Gen. Katumba accompanied by his daughter Brenda Nantongo Wamala and driver Haruna Kayondo were attacked by unidentified assassins who ended the lives of both his daughter and driven in cold blood on June 01, 2021.
During a mass led by the Archbishop Kazimba Mugalu in Kitandwa, Mukono on Saturday, Gen Katumba couldn’t help but express his gratitude towards God for the gift of life having survived the misfortune himself
“It wasn’t in my might to fight these assassins, rather God’s wisdom, in bible Philippines 4:13, “l can do all this through Him who gives me strength, ” that’s why l can stand in front of this congregation and make such commitments to continue serving my country.”
” Because of God’s grace l didn’t go to limbo like a was advised by colleagues, l rather remained serving humanity, extend love to other people and serve diligently and dedicatedly as God has enabled me to do.”

According to the Gen St Mark Kikandwa will be an internationally recognized place of worship built at levels that even satisfy all quality standards
Giving his speech, Archbishop Kazimba Mugalu noted that many times humans are most vulnerable to such experiences and that it’s only by God’s intervention that they pull through. This he said even for those that do good and expect to be reciprocated though not spared from people’s wrath
” When l landed of the unfortunate news l asked me, of all people why him, a man down to earth and humble as he is, why?” He said Noting that the only thing that could halt even the evil was through believing in God.
On behalf of the president, Robinah Nabbanja, the Prime minister noted that the clergy does enormous work in averting such kinds of acts and that religion as a whole does well in reforming the masses.

This is appreciated by the leadership of Kikandwa Church of Uganda for what she said was a rightful approach to responding to the government’s call towards prosperity by calling on the masses to fund the construction of the project.
” The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has relentlessly been calling upon churches to start-up projects that sustain their leaders and activities to cause growth for it to thrive amid challenging times like these,” she said
Adding that it was not a plus that many Ugandans continue to underlook the intensity of God’s might and fail to accord Him His worth in value
Second Deputy Buganda Kingdom Prime Minister Hon Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, also on behalf of the Prime minister Charles Peter Mayiga noted that before anything the suspects involved in the murder of the two should be brought to account and that this also helps bring to justice in addition to the Gen volition of investing his strength and resources to the construction of God’s house.
