Parliament and the general public are mourning the death of Gordon Bafaki, a former Kazo Legislator. Bafaki died in a road crash along Kampala Northern Bypass.
The 48-year-Old legislator died in the early morning hours of Wednesday, the deputy speaker confirmed.
Tayebwa described Bafaki as “an assertive colleague who pushed for the interests of his people and country.”
According to the police report, Bafaki was driving a Toyota Land Cruiser TX registration number UBD 965E before it crashed with a trailer registration number KBZ539Z/ZC8776.
The driver of the trailer is being held at Kiwatule Police Station while Bafaki’s body was taken to Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem as police moves on with investigations into what could have caused the crash.
Bafaki who lost his MP seat to Dan Kimosho in the 2021 elections, was returning from Kiruhura district at the time of his death.
The Northern by-pass has lately claimed many lives due to the poor lighting of the road.
