A section of former students of the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) under their umbrella body of the IUIU Alumni Association (IUIU-AA) has announced that they will give interest-free loans to Needy students.

IUIU-AA is the umbrella organization that seeks to bring together all the people that went through and completed at least a course of study at IUIU.

The loans, according to these aims at helping students who are bright but cannot complete their studies due to financial constraints.

“The first qualification is that you must be a needy student and studying at IUIU,” Titus Kisambira, the Association’s Chairperson of Resource Mobilisation said

“The loans shall not be given in a discriminatory manner whether you are a Muslim or non-Muslim provided you are a student of IUIU we shall give you. Girls will however take high precedence,” he added.

The loan, according to Kisambira targets to benefit 100 students annually.

“This year we started with two students who are doing medicine but our target is to help over 100 per year. They will start paying at least a year after finishing school,” he added.
