Former URA head Akol lands juicy job at IMF


Former Commissioner General of Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Doris Akol has landed a new role with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Akol is now the IMF Technical Assistance Advisor.

The revelation came to public notice after former KCCA Executive Director Jennifer Musisi Ssemakula posted a congratulatory message to Akol via her Twitter handle.

Congratulations to one of Africa’s most brilliant tax administrators and legal professionals on your ascension to Technical Assistance Advisor International Monetary Fund Doris Akol, they’ve grabbed a gem!” tweeted Jennifer Musisi on Tuesday morning.

Upon graduation from the Law Development Centre in 1994, Akol joined Uganda Revenue Authority in 1995, as a Legal Officer. From 2012 until 2014, Doris Akol was the Commissioner for Legal Affairs and Board Matters at the Uganda Revenue Authority.

In that capacity, she also served as the Company’s Legal Secretary before she was appointed Commissioner general in October 2014 replacing Allen Kagina, who retired after two consecutive five-year terms at the helm of the URA.
