The ministry of education and sports (MOES) in support of Belgian development agency Enabel has trained 36 members of the tourism and hospitality sector in digital marketing skills.

Herbert Byaruhanga, the Executive Director of the Tourism and Hospitality Sector Skills Council said the skills training aims to address the skills mismatches between the skills supply and skills demand in the labor market after a Skills Needs Assessment where it was discovered that members in the hospitality sector lacked skills in digital marketing.

He further said that the overall objective of the training is to harness the business potential of firms through online branding and marketing.

“We believe this will increase sales and profitability, consequently leading to business growth and expanding the opportunities for employment of youths in the hospitality and tourism sector,” he said adding that;

“This trained personnel will be assessed and licensed by the Uganda Tourism board so that they act as trainers to others to enable us to equip Ugandans in this sector with skills to ease in content creation and marketing.”
