One year ago last week, history was made in the arena of informative and solution-based journalism.

The Trio Friends turned into brothers to which the challenges associated with low amplification of the common man’s voices touched, met on the sidelines of their then-employed jobs, and agreed to step up their cooperation by forming DaParrot Media Limited.

DaParrot was established as a transitional media organization that would first help prepare the audience for the establishment of a permanent solution-based content publishing media house.

Besides, at its founding, DaParrot also had the task of initiating and implementing journalistic development projects as one of the ways to attract and maintain the interests of its audiences.

The writing of the first minutes of the Co-operational Partnership by Founders a few weeks to September 14, 2021, constituted the agreement that led to the establishment of DaParrot Media Limited. It was a milestone achievement for the Founders, according to people conversant with the history of Employment under Uganda’s Journalism Media Houses.

For the audience of progressive Journalism, the establishment was a significant step in more ways than one. First, it constituted a major step forward in advancing the common man’s voice to a bigger space outside Uganda since the media is electronic its content would reach an even far end of the world than Local media.

As you may perhaps recall, Uganda had and still relied so much on local journalism published and broadcasted mostly in local languages. This denied information rights to Ugandans in the diaspora as well as Uganda’s development partners beyond the country’s borderlines thus limiting the quality address of the common man’s raised voices.

Robert Musiitwa, the Head of Communications at the Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC), argues that the establishment of the DaParrot was a vital step in putting things straight.

“For a long time, we had been getting information ending within the national space and yet today’s human concerns need to be amplified further to the global space for impactful redress and promotion of Uganda’s cultural heritage,” said Musiitwa.

So the founding of DaParrot as CPA Denise Ssebugwawo, a Member of The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda, a Tax Consultant, and a publisher of the weekly column “Accounting, Finance & Taxation Solutions” at DaParrot remarked, was a major achievement in resolving present and potential future problems through spreading knowledge and information more detailed.

“For the periodicals DaParrot shares regarding current affairs and other developments in our country, region, and beyond, people have shown interest in it, I have received many positive comments from people of different places; they have actually shown interest in what is published Despite the initial startup challenges, I am sure the year coming will get DaParrot to a higher number of stakeholders and audience,” said CPA Ssebugwawo.

DaParrot with its headquarters located in Kampala Central Business district was established as an important transitional institution that would help push for the realization of a long-held dream of offering information everyone can trust. The permanent media house, it is presumed will create a new path of trust in online news media that grapple their path away from mistrust over sensational lies of social media self-proclaimed journalists/ bloggers.

DaParrot has since published its first article, offering opportunities such as employment opportunities, offering solutions among others.

Benefits

Besides helping create a common voice over complicated human issues such as corruption, DaParrot has breathed life into several people’s aspects. A number of them are visible such as saving a Ugandan house maid Margaret Nabulya in Saudi Arabia who had been put under house arrest by her tyrant employer.

Nabulya had allegedly been raped by her employer but later ran away from which DaParrot ran her story that brought in Laban Joshua Musinguzi, the Coordinator of the Parliamentary Forum for Labor, Decent Employment, and Productivity who rescued and had her return home.

According to Yasin Sokuton, DaParrot Chief Executive Officer, an estimated 200 published articles have attracted appropriate feedback and redress.

DaParrot has also played key roles in facilitating access to factual information by its audience, promoting a number of clients’ investments as well as developing inter-connection lines that connect the grids of advertising clients and customers.

DaParrot challenging strongholds

For one year of existence, Da Parrot has suffered from several threats arising mostly from the sense of fear among irregularity committing members of the public, especially following the authenticity and consistent publication of content based on the pillars of journalism which also includes sticking to truth without bribes.

This sense of stagnation largely arose from breaking a story of city tycoons who connived with the Ministry of Lands officials to attain public wetland land titles and later seduce the government of compensation in case of infrastructure construction like Roads.

It’s upon those invaluable challenges and efforts of trust building that many other physical benefits have been and will continue to be realized
