Legendary Drama Actor and Play Writer Alex Mukulu has revealed that comedy diluted and eats up real Drama.

Mukulu believes that the real Drama died a long time ago giving space to what he called quacks, who have replaced it with comedy.

“Ideally Comedy should be a reflection of the community, what you see is what you would wish to see your children, I ask you among you, are you in a position to admire your children be what you watch in comedy?” Mukulu asked the audience that had gathered at Makerere University, during the closing of the three days International Humanitarian Conference 2022.

“We used to write and act real comedy in the early 1990s unfortunately we have been infiltrated by elements who have turned Drama into immorality. I am really angered and ready to protest,” he said.

According to Mukulu, what is perceived as Drama today is a total mess that must be placed at a far distance from children.

“Our works (Actors) must be a reflection of the societies we leave in, lest, we are doing a disservice to not only ourselves but also the communities we leave in,” he said

A real play, he said has to be historical, precious, authentic, and takes a lot of time, but to his dismay you find people come up with concepts in minutes.
