City Businessman Hamis Kiggundu of Ham Enterprise (U) Ltd has renewed his war with the Buganda Kingdom, by reclaiming ownership of the 140-acre prime land in Kigo, which Mengo clearly maintains is Kabaka’s land.
The war that started in early March climaxed, which forced Ham to abandon the land in fear of fighting with his King.
Ham had through his real estate company- Kiham Enterprises (U) Limited deployed casual laborers and grader operators who started excavating and clearing it out.
Ham co-owns the real estate company with his uncle Nakibinge Kaggwa (Ham owns 99 percent shares whereas Nakibinge owns 1 percent).
The contested land is located on the stretch lying between Victoria Serena Hotel and Mirembe Villas.
Media reports quoted Ham in March, justifying his claim over the 140 acres of land on grounds that the same was sold to him by Wakiso District Land Board some years ago under the following particulars: “WAK6104 Folio 25 Block 273 Plot 23977 at Kigo.”
“The Kabaka entourage and that of Ham spent the whole day confronting each other and exchanging bitter words as Police intervened to protect and enable what Kabogoza calls the illegal activities that were being carried out by the agents of the city tycoon who was equally on the scene,” reports stated
The Uganda National Roads Authority team, comprising William Matovu and other employees, was at hand to corroborate everything Nakibinge Kaggwa and his boss Ham were saying to justify their claim against the Kabaka of Buganda.
On seeing that the war will spoil his relationship with the kingdom and the King, Ham bowed to pressure and abandoned ownership of the land.
New Developments
In the new development, the business mogul has through his lawyer, Muwema, and Co Advocates & Solicitors petitioned the Office of the Commissioner of Land Registration at the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development over the same land.
“We act for Ham Enterprises (U) Limited who have put us in possession of your above notice which was received through a post on the 24m April 2022 with instructions to handle. We note however that, the said notice did not have a copy of the complaint and survey report which we require to support our comprehensive objection,” reads part of the Notice.

“Our client takes strong exception to the said unfounded allegations which are lacking in factual and legal basis. Driven Effective. My copy of this thereof, we request to be provided with a copy of the complaint and survey as you may please. We shall oblige your timely action in the matter,” it adds
This comes days after the Buganda prime Minister Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga warned squatters who enclined Kabaka’s land with an aim of stealing it.
