President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China has sent a heartfelt birthday message to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who celebrated his 80th birthday on September 15, 2024. The message was delivered by Uganda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary, Mr. Bagiire Vincent Waiswa.
In the letter, President Xi praised Uganda’s progress under President Museveni’s leadership, noting the country’s continuous achievements in national development. “On this occasion of Your Excellency’s birthday, I extend my sincere congratulations and best wishes.
As a rotating chair of both the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the G77+ China, Uganda has made significant contributions to promoting South-South cooperation, for which I highly appreciate your efforts,” he wrote.
President Xi also highlighted the strong friendship and partnership between China and Uganda, emphasizing their shared commitment to progress. “China and Uganda are good friends, standing heart to heart, and good partners united for rejuvenation,” Xi remarked.
He acknowledged Uganda’s pivotal role in the success of the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit, which concluded with positive outcomes, thanks to the support of Uganda and other African nations.
President Xi expressed his desire to strengthen bilateral ties, stating, “I attach great importance to the development of China-Uganda relations and look forward to working with you to enhance exchanges on state governance, align development strategies, and co-safeguard international fairness and justice. Together, we can contribute to the common development and prosperity of the Global South. I wish you good health and continued success.”
