The URCS reports that the disaster has so far affected 1,540 people and 220 households. Among these, 125 households were completely destroyed. Additionally, 22 people sustained injuries and were rushed to Buluganya Health Centre III and Muyembe Health Centre IV for treatment.

On Friday, Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, visited Bulambuli District to assess the damage and offer condolences to the bereaved families.
Accompanied by Hon. Lillian Aber, State Minister for Disaster Preparedness, Relief, and Refugees, Nabbanja pledged the government’s commitment to supporting the affected communities and she also emphasized the need for increased vigilance in disaster-prone areas, given the country’s ongoing extreme weather patterns.
Relief Efforts Underway
John Cliff Wamala, the URCS Communications Officer, revealed that preparations are underway to establish a camp in Bulambutye to accommodate the displaced.
“We will set up four emergency shelters, each with a capacity of 200 people, to provide temporary housing. Additionally, we are strengthening WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) services and ensuring access to safe and clean water,” Wamala stated.
An ambulance has been deployed to the camp to support medical needs, and URCS teams continue to offer psychosocial support to grieving families and provide basic first aid for survivors.
“We are also coordinating efforts under the Office of the Prime Minister and assisting with body management for the deceased,” Wamala added.
The Red Cross reiterated its commitment to assisting the affected communities, emphasizing the importance of collaboration with government agencies and other humanitarian organizations to address the disasters aftermath.
